Barn Buddies

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth’s Barn Buddies Program is designed to match cat lovers who own heated structures, such as a barn or workshop, with a cat that prefers to live in an indoor/outdoor setting. Adopters are still deemed to be their owner and are responsible for food, water, shelter and ensuring they have access to regular medical care.

Barn Buddies are feline companions that range in temperament from semi-social to very friendly. They may prefer to share your living arrangements from a distance, need a little time to warm up to you (treats work well) or harass you for love every day!

No matter their disposition, by adopting a Barn Buddy you give a cat a second chance at life in a loving forever home.

Barn Buddies have an adoption fee of $25 which includes their spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, tattoo and ear tip.

If you’re interested in adopting a working cat, please fill out our Barn Buddy application and email it to:

If we don’t have any barn buddies available when you inquire, we do hold a waiting list. As soon as we have a suitable candidate, we will notify those waiting for their very own mouser!*

*The term ”Mouser” is used loosely. The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth will not be held liable should your mouser be ineffective at his or her job.
