Thank you to our incredible foster families!

Hello everyone!

Well it’s my turn to give you an update this week! My name is Stephanie and I’m the Foster Coordinator for The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth. On behalf of myself and all of our foster families, thank you for the outpouring of love and support you have shown our animals over these past few weeks. It’s been wonderful to see your messages of support online.

It’s been a time of rapid change for all of us here at the humane society, especially our animals. When non-essential services were shut down, we immediately started preparing animals to move into foster care. We wanted to ensure that we had space available in our centres for those who needed us next.

Our foster families have been an INCREDIBLE support during this time, and as of earlier this week, had accepted 56 animals into their homes for an indefinite period of time. We not only had individual animals looking for love and support, but a nursing mom and ten puppies, a number of nursing moms and kittens, and even bottle feeder kittens that required round the clock care. The dedication they have shown is heart-warming and I couldn’t be more thankful.

We wanted to not only take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about our foster program and our current situation, but also show you how our animals are doing in foster care. Our families submitted videos earlier this week and you can see below!

Our foster program is successful because of the families that lend their time and talents to KWSPHS. If you’d like to learn more about what it means to be a foster parent, check out our recent feedback from one of our families.

We have received a number of inquiries about our program and we are thrilled to see so many people willing to lend a hand during this time. If you’d like to become a foster parent, please apply online through our website. If you’d like to donate to this life-saving program and the animals it helps, we would also be extremely grateful for your contribution.

Thank you again for your support of our entire organization and for believing in the life-altering work we do.
