April 20th
Happy National Volunteer Week

As we approach the National Volunteer Week, April 24th – 30th, I am more conscientious of the value of our volunteers. The work our volunteers do has proven that one person can make a significant difference.

Great volunteers are hard to find, but somehow we have managed to attract some of the best. Whether you spend time cleaning the animal areas, or providing much needed TLC to our cats/kittens, take our canine friends for walks, or foster animals in your home, help out at the reception, in our animal hospital/clinic, at our pet pantry, or stuffing envelopes, or you are a member of our board of directors, participate on a committee or work at an event, we are so very thankful for your kindness! Your caring hearts, compassion, support and positivity keep us going.

The past two years have been extremely challenging for all of us, but we are excited about the future. Each week, we welcome back more volunteers at our centres. We have missed you so much! We are a stronger organization because of each one of you.

This year’s theme - Volunteering Is Empathy in Action - affirms the strong connection between volunteerism and empathy. There is no doubt that we are a stronger, better and more productive organization because of you. We could not care for the animals we do without the extraordinary volunteers who provide us with their time, empathy and talents. We are more grateful to you than words can ever express.

If gratitude is worth millions, then our volunteers must be billionaires. Thank you for the priceless work you do. It will not be forgotten by me or the people and pets you have helped.

Happy National Volunteer Week and, thank you!
