Programs

The Humane Society offers a variety of educational and recreational programming, including in-class presentations, birthday parties, camp programs, centre tours, and more.

Educating the next generation of kind and compassionate animal lovers.

A large part of our mission is to provide educational programming aimed at building the next generation of compassionate, kind, and caring pet owners. We offer a variety of programming for children and adults of all ages across both our Stratford and Kitchener animal centres.

Known for our award winning birthday parties, summer camps and vets in training programs, we are so excited to welcome you to our centres and share how we help people and pets in our communities.

PD Day Camps

PD Day camps offer a jam-packed day of educational, interactive, and engaging fun! Campers get a full tour of the centre, as well as animal interaction, games, and crafts.

Vet Summer Camp

A week-long specialty program for ages 6-12 that teaches young animal enthusiasts about becoming a veterinarian.

Summer Camp

Summer camp at the Humane Society is a great way for children to learn about responsible pet ownership, animal handling, and daily care in a safe and fun environment.

March Break Camps

Our week long March Break Camp allows your little animal lover to cultivate their love for our furry friends in a safe, inclusive, and educational environment.

Vets in Training

Our Vets in Training program ranges from Jr. to Sr. and is available for ages 7-14+. The programs cover physical exams, X-Rays, an in-depth look into veterinary medicine, and more!

Paws for Parents - A Morning Off

Leave the kids with us and give yourself a much-deserved morning off - get out and do some holiday shopping, go for brunch, or just enjoy a kid-free morning at home. The kids will receive a tour of our shelter and an animal meet and greet, followed by a movie and snack.

Teddy Bear Clinic

Children are invited to bring a stuffed animal to the Teddy Bear Clinic - we will teach you how to groom your stuffy, how to make a special ID tag for them, and more!

Little Tails

Little Tails is an interactive program series designed for little ones and their caregivers. It includes our Tiny Tails group (0 to 18m) and our Tots and Tails group (18m to 3y). The program combines age appropriate, engaging playtime with centre tours, and, if appropriate pets are available, gentle animal interactions.

Critter Club

Critter Club is a drop-in after school program for children ages 6-9. Each week, children will get to participate in engaging activities centred around animal care, education, and welfare. Participants can attend as many sessions as they would like - every week will be different!

Birthday Paw-ties

Calling all party animals! Children ages 5+ can celebrate their birthday with family and friends at the Humane Society with 2-hour parties at both the Kitchener and Stratford centres!

Adult Paw-ties

Celebrate Your Special Day with a Paw-some Twist!

Adults are invited to make their celebration truly unforgettable—whether it’s a birthday, retirement, farewell, or baby shower—by having a unique party at the Humane Society! Enjoy lively games, great music, and interactive activities, all while surrounded by adorable animals.

Yoga With Animals

Grab your yoga mat and enjoy an hour of Cat and Cows, Downward Dogs and Pigeons at our Stratford and Kitchener locations. You can get in a workout AND be around adorable furry friends!

Paint Nights

Join us for a fun evening of paint night! Come with friends or family—make it a date night, or just enjoy some me time and create your own masterpiece. We offer paint nights for both kids and adults.

Learn. Create. Connect.

Calling all aspiring artists! In this fun and interactive 2-hour workshop, you’ll explore the elements of art while doodling and drawing your favourite animal friend. Discover the foundational skills and design principles that will take your artwork to the next level.

Paws and Prints

Make Your Mark with Animal-Inspired Printmaking!

Bring your favourite furry friend to life through the art of relief printing. In this creative 2.5-hour session, you’ll learn the basics of printmaking, design your own animal-inspired piece, roll on the ink, and print away!

Sculpt-a-Critter

Sculpt Your Own Animal!

Design your own animal in this 3-hour workshop! Build a base, layer with paper-mâché, and add personality with collage. Between steps, explore the humane society and meet some lovable pets.

Pieces and Paws

Create Your Own Animal Collage!

In this fun 2.5-hour workshop, design with patterns and colours, tear and rearrange them into a unique animal collage, and glue down your masterpiece. Take breaks to tour the Humane Society and maybe meet a furry friend!

Presentations & Tours

The Humane Society presentations for schools, organizations, groups, and seniors provide fun, interactive education about animals. Educational group tours of our centres are also available at both our Kitchener and Stratford locations for parties of up to 15-20 people.
